Kayley Green

Country Singer/Songwriter

Imagine this:

A small-town girl moves to Nashville, plays a few gigs on Broadway, and suddenly lands a record deal.

Sounds like a fairy tale, right?

Well, for Kayley Green from Florence, SC, it’s her real-life story.

Who discovered this Carolina girl? Keith Urban (who was her ticket to chalk up a performance at Bridgestone Arena, joining Keith’s show. See if you get chills too, when she’s hitting these notes along side Keith).

this rising star dropped her first single earlier this year, and wouldn’t you know it? She’s already back with a new hit.

“Shadow Of A Cowboy” recently hit the airwaves, and you can find it on all your favorite digital platforms, thanks to Sony Music Nashville.

Now, let’s talk about this new song. Kayley teamed up with some serious songwriting talent – Jon Nite, Ross Copperman, and Ben Williams – to create a tune that’ll tug at your heartstrings.

It’s all about that moment when you realize a relationship is done and dusted… when you finally see that the person you thought was “the one” just isn’t cutting it.

Kayley felt a deep connection to this song from the get-go, and honestly, who hasn’t been there? It’s the kind of story that hits home for so many of us.

In a day and age when it seems like a fictional fairytale for an aspiring artist to move to Nashville, and be discovered playing the honkytonks on Broadway and sign to a label soon thereafter, that has the been the reality for Florence, SC native Kayley Green.

Kayley couldn’t hide her excitement about “Shadow of a Cowboy.” She expressed how much the song just clicked from the start.

“[I’ve been] trying to find my voice and then learning how to write it into music. This is one of the first songs that I felt I was able to do that.”

She said that all the parts—the lyrics, melody, even those high notes and the bridge—it all felt 100% authentically her.

Kayley gives gratitude to her collaborators. “I’m so grateful to my co-writers for helping me write a song that I love so much.”

We’ve all been through heartbreak, right? That’s what makes this song hit so raw doesn’t sugar-coat the tough stuff.

Kayley’s voice is the real star of the show. She’s got power, she’s got control, and she’s got style!  She belts out those heart-break lyrics with emotion, and in a way that pulls the listener in closer to the stereo.

At HamFestival.com, what we particularly love about “Shadow of a Cowboy” is

  1. A catchy hook, that you don’t have to wait for in the chorus. Just as soon as Kayley’s lips start spilling her heart, we’re sold.
  2. Amen to the return of a guitar solo. No, we didn’t have to take a time machine back to the ’80s or even the late ’90s (a la Guns n’ Roses’ November Rain) for a couple of tasty guitar phrases at 2m 20s into the song, to compliment the soulful feel of Kayley’s track.
  3. It’s overall instant likability. The way the entire piece stacks and evolves. Once that powerful chorus hit us, the texture opens wide, and takes a dip, giving the listener some breathing room, before leading us right back into the next part (either verse or bridge).

We think you’ll be hitting replay on this one..
